Lesson 2 - Using Probability Language

To encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about Using Probability Language, here are some games and interactive activities they can do on their own or in pairs.

 

Goals

Use probability language ( always, sometimes, never ).

Describe how probability applies to personal experiences.

 

Instructions for Use

Spinners and Probability Language lets students select probably words.

To use Spinners and Probability Language, colour a spinner by clicking on the colour dots at the bottom of the screen, and then click on the spinner. Select the number of sections for the spinner by clicking on the "+" or "-" signs. The yellow pointer can be set to spin randomly or drag it to the any spot in the spinner. Set the red arrow on the scale of probability words by dragged it.

Decide on a question. Set the red arrow to the probably word and click the "Spin" button. Describe how probability applies to this outcome.
