Lesson 5 - Introducing Subtraction

To encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about Introducing Subtraction, here are some games and interactive activities they can do on their own or in pairs.

 

Goals

Describe and act out subtraction story problems.

Choose a method to solve a problem.

 

Instructions for Use

Basic Subtraction lets students practice subtraction.

To use Basic Subtraction, click the "Start New" Button. Count the counters and click the "Subtract" button.

 

Eggs in the Carton lets students solve subtraction problems.

To use Eggs in the Carton, click on either 12 eggs, or 6 eggs. The egg carton opens. Count the number of eggs that are left in the carton, and input the answer in the text box. Click the "Check" button to see if the answer is correct. Click the "Play Again" button to start again.

 

Little Animals Activity Centre, Subtraction lets students solve missing-part subtraction problems.

To use Little Animals Activity Centre, Subtraction, count the spots on the back of the ladybirds and choose the right number to complete the difference.
