Lesson 6 - Creating and Translating Patterns

Use these interactive games and activities to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about creating and translating patterns. Students can try these activities on their own or in pairs.

 

Goal

Translate patterns from one form to another.

 

Instructions or Use

Crazy Pattern Game prompts students to fill in attributes in repeating shape patterns.

To use Crazy Pattern Game, click on the level of difficulty, and then click on the random choices of shapes, colours, numbers, upper case, or lower case letters. Fill in the missing piece from each patterned sequence.

 

Pattern Builder lets students create a pattern with sound.

To use Pattern Builder, have students click on the piano keys to create a pattern. Click the "Play Pattern" button to hear the pattern. Click the "Sounds" button to change the sound of the pattern. Click the "New Pattern" button to create a new pattern.
